Bibi Aya was born on my 55th birthday. She is the name of my sacral self, a space of fertile inner landscape and birthing magic. A space of joyous embracing of the pleasure and beauty of life. She is the call to connect with all that I am and move forward into the world as a creative being. Visible.
She is my connection to the creative realm, the divine & the embodied self. She is the newness of me bringing in the wisdom of the old. Vikki Parker continues to be my name in many spaces. She holds much wisdom. Bibi has arrived to declare joy and healing for the rest of her days, with a cheekiness and rebellious impish nature.
And so it is.
We're all here to connect with each other. Aren't we? Our capacity to do that depends on how richly we can connect with ourselves. This is my starting point.
We all have a story. We all have our trauma. We all have the potential to remember the gold within.
Sometimes we need a safe, anonymous space to explore the lost treasure of ourselves.
'We have Art so that we do not die of reality’ Nietszche
As a former drama teacher of 16 years, in both secondary and primary education, I embedded the understanding of how the creative process writes a legacy of wellbeing into the teenage journey, and how play and spontaneity are vital, and non-negotiable, for mental health. When your department becomes the haven for the angst of growing up, you know you are doing more than teaching.
My studies in integrative arts psychotherapy further solidified that understanding and that began a deeper personal journey using creative process to untangle the trauma of my childhood as an undiagnosed audhd girl with parental role models, products of their own upbringings and lack of tools to process their own trauma, playing out narcissism, suicidal attempts & chronic mental health challenges, creating a parentified child in me with no personal power, hypervigilant, no boundaries, and no stable identity, despite appearances. Hello masking.
There’s been a lot to process.
Art has saved my life.
At age 57 I am finally stepping into my identity as an artist & writer. These days you’ll find me immersed in my multi-disciplinary work, following my own unique timing, honouring my self-expression and daring to share it with the world. I’ve been getting back into painting over the last year and a half, experimenting with my loop station creating vocal soundscapes and collating all the poetry I’ve ever written. Who knows what project might be birthed next. I’m listening deeply to myself. And having fun. How wonderful is that?
